Do you pretend to be OK when inside you are an anxious mess?
Are you struggling with inner fears that just seem to get worse?
Suppressed negative emotions are often slowly accumulated and buried over time.
This is an opportunist time for Satan to attempt to set up strongholds in our mind. (A stronghold is an area in which we are held bondage to a certain way of thinking.)
Eventually each emotional event we experience can often serve to add yet another layer and unless brought to the light can rob us of our joy and peace in our walk with the Lord not to mention affecting our overall health and well-being.
The first step to achieving emotional healing is being honest with yourself and recognising that rather than blaming others we need to take accountability.
“Jesus says if you abide in my word you are truly my disciples and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free”…… so if the son sets you free you will be free indeed” (John 8 vs. 32 – 36)
How are we experiencing this freedom if we are still carrying around our backpack of worldly emotional stuff?
In order to experience this freedom we need to acknowledge that we have not dealt with these buried emotions and need them brought to the surface so our Lord Jesus can sever them at the root.
Then and only then can God take us from a broken, hurting, anxious individual and restore us so that we can finally experience the peace and joy that the Lord desires us to have in our walk with him.
The following traits when continually demonstrated may potentially point to unresolved negative behavioural patterns in our lives:-
- Excessive Defensive behaviour
- Sensitivity to a past issue or event
- Angry at God
- Excessive Drive
- Irrational expectations of others
